STORY:  Romeo and Juliet meet and fall in love despite an ancient grudge between their families, the Montagues and Capulets. Assisted by Juliet’s good-natured nurse and Friar Lawrence, they marry in secret but then everything goes terribly wrong and ultimately everyone pays a heavy price for continuing this destructive vendetta. Two different kinds of Script, based on Shakespeare’s play and the same rich variety of Songs and Dances, are available : Original – revised 2011 – or the shorter Rhyming Script, useful especially as an introduction for young performers and students learning English as a foreign language.

Key Stages 2 – 4 (age 7 – 16) ; Duration about one hour for the Original, a little less for the Rhyming Script ;  Cross Curricular Aspects include Language and literature, history, geography, citizenship, music, dance, drama, art and design

CAST:  to suit the number of performers available, the cast size is flexible with 25 to 30 evenly distributed speaking/singing parts and choruses ;  * = solo/small group singing part ;  ^ = solo/small group speaking part
